Backstory

As with most information on Victor, his origin is mostly speculation. It is obvious that he was once a powerful wizard, but since there are no wizards named Victor von Pthfonkenhausen on file some believe that wasn't his original name. At least, such is the running theory. From there beliefs diverge dramatically. Some think he was a shut in wizard rarely heard of. Others think he was famous and is on file, only under a different name. Plenty of those wizards have unaccounted for ends. This isnt all too uncommon for famously travelled wizards. They really arent allowed many mistakes when adventuring is involved.

Aside from his life before lichdom, Victor is known for his 'experiments' and choice is minions. These experiments usually involve the death of anywhere from ten to a thousand lives in the name of magical research. Usually the reason for these tests is just to see if it can be done. He may never even look at the spell again. If anyone knew where he hid his phylactery they would try and rid the world of him, but nobody who knows has lived long enough to find out.

As for his minions, the only ones he keeps for any real period of time are those he can directly control. Of those minions, only one was ever known to be related to Victor. Oddly enough, he let this information slip willingly, although due to the little progress made from it this is little suprise. One day in a rural village a ragged man showed up looking half alive. After being taken in by the people there, they realized that his half alive look wasnt from illness or injury. He was actually a vampiric spawn and began rampaging across the area. A nearby fighter managed to defeat the monster, nearly dying in the fight. That is when Victor appeared, congratulated the man on his success, and asked politely if he would like to take his place as a minion. After the fighter flatly refused the offer, Victor only sighed, muttered something about a waste, and discintigrated him. He then teleported away and hasnt been spotted there since.

His other, less informed minions are usually little more than toys to the lich. Since they are not directly under his control, he lets them go about whatever they may while thinking they know all about him. The information is usually false, although no one is sure because no minion of his has ever had a chance to tell all they knew. He also chooses people with strange names. Scholars think this may be because he feels bad for them due to his own name. Others disagree, citing that he chose his name so he must like it. Regardless, he does choose minions with odd names. Similarly, they all have met rather unfortunate ends.

Alignment

Victor is clearly neutral evil, although he will never speak of his intentions. He cares only for his experiments and still manages to follow some sort of code. His actions also clearly label his caring for others, so really this alignment is a no brainer.

Relationships

Victor rarely gets to know people, at least those that are still alive. It just isnt worth it, because he will likely kill them if he keeps encountering them enough to form a real understanding of the person.

  • Mydo Bandydo - He is amusing. The way he outsmarted shifty was hilarious. The upstart thought he had everything figured out, but did he bother to check up on druidic magic? Obviously not.

  • Gnaat Uluchu - She's pretty strange, but I've heard of her sort before. It was fun watching her punch the zombies though. Maybe I can design one that isn't affected by her. It would certainly be fun to try.

  • Searil Gellantara - She's pretty cute, charging after me like that. I can see why she would want to kill me, being a stick in the mud for that fancy god of hers. Honestly though, if I were a nuisance to Heironeous he would come down and deal with it himself. Hopefully she doesn't get to be too much of a bother. I do have important studies you know.

  • Aeleria Ravenclaw - She can be bothersome with that healing of hers, but it isnt anything to worry about. I really just don't like how it stings. I mean, have you ever felt a spell of heal when being undead? It is a rediculously painful experience. Yah thats right, you thought we didnt feel pain ... well we dont. Still, that warm fuzzy feeling you all like is the closest thing to pain we get. Anyways, she's calm and level headed enough that I don't have to worry about her doing anything stupid.

  • Raevyn Darkblood - She's pretty cute, particularly after I've seen her kind before. They poke you with their knives but what does it matter, I don't have any flesh I can't replace. Still, I'm not a pincushion so I'd much rather she didnt do that sort of thing.

  • Olio Leigh'O - Quite the daring one I'd say, at least for anyone not a paladin. She actually had the guts to fire a bolt at me. It might have been more fun to fire that bolt back between her eyes, but there were too many pests around so I had to get rid of them. Really though, why did Shifty need me to make a display? Did he think it would stop his pursuers or somehow make them fight any less? If they didn't show up, he wouldnt get his revenge too. Whatever though, if he were smart it would be more trouble for me.

  • Shifty McGee - This one is pretty stupid, but dedicated. If he didnt get all his magic from his bloodline then he would be some pauper on the streets. Whatever, it doesnt much matter to me. So long as he does my bidding and keeps the others happy then so be it. I can humor him once in a while. His little shenanegans are always fun to watch.
