Story

Searil was born as the seventh child of Father Elven Gellantara and Quidiana Gellantara. Searil's parents desired a baby boy, but after six baby girls they were a bit... fed up. And so when baby Searil was born, her parents basically said "Well, screw it," and gave Searil a man's name. While her other sisters were taught dancing, sewing and other lady-like things, Searil was taught how to fight, hunt, and drink beer.

Sadly, Elven and Quidiana found problems in raising their smallest daughter to be a man. It was soon discovered that Searil was quite frail for her age--frailer than normal children. Worse was a small, simple side effect of her condition--hallucinations. Searil would frequently hallucinate anything from squirrels tapdancing on kitchen tables to freakish demons and hauntings coming to eat her. Despite the set backs, Elven and Quidiana pressed forth.

Then came another setback. At age 8, Searil received the call of paladinhood from Heironeous. Her parents forced her to stay another two years--however, Searil demanded on heading to the capital city of Juno. She wished not only to serve Heironeous as his paladin, but also in hopes that one day she would stop seeing things and to finally sate her parents' wishes for her to become strong. So at age 10, she headed out in a small merchant's caravan to the capital city of Juno.

Upon arriving at the temple in Juno, Searil was immediately taken in and trained vigorously to be a paladin. There she met her friend and future party-mate, Raiden, as well as her superiors Helga and Lawrence. 7 years later she set out from the temple to the Adventurer's Guild, hoping to spread goodness and justice, honor her family and cure her condition.

Role in Party

Searil's role in the party is largely divided between combat and diplomacy. In combat Searil tends to be the first to charge into battle--especially against undead or evil creatures. She follows the logic of "destroy it before it can destroy you," sacrificing her ability to dodge attacks in order to deal more damage. If for some reason she can't reach the enemy or the enemy is heading towards another party member, she will most likely attempt to draw their attention in whatever way she can.

Outside of combat, Searil works a different sort of diplomacy than Olio. She stands for the more official, 'orderly' diplomacy--attempting to make agreements between people, etc. She gains some benefits in this field, being a paladin of Heironeous and therefore being unable to lie outright (most of the time the law enforcement knows this). Unlike the other diplomats in the party, one of her strengths also comes from knowing people (very similar to Olio, but a different kind of people...)

Of course, Searil's methods clash with the rest of the party, especially with Mydo who she disagrees with constantly. Searil tends to try to act as the voice of law and reason in the party, and seeing as she has very few people who agree with her views, acts as one of the loudest and most forward members of the party.

Psychology

To Searil, the question is follows--why don't you ever meet very many other adventuring paladins? Because they're dead. Searil doesn't expect to live past 20, and so she devotes herself, in a sense, to death. The one thing Searil desires most in life (well, except for Lawrence) is a glorious death. To her, if she could die for a cause then she could die happy.

Not only is Searil convinced of her future death, but is also strongly convinced that she is a deliquent of a paladin. She feels Heironeous has only granted her powers out of pity, and is convinced that the other paladins look down upon her (even though it isn't quite the case). Because of this, she is determined to better herself and hopefully prove herself worthy of Heironeous, and the Temple's, love.

As for her view on other people, Searil feels a strong devotion to try to correct views she views as "wrong." Her attempts to right people come out as backlashes and insults, making her seem like a sort of insensitive hardass (although I guess she is).

Alignment

Searil is Lawful Good. While the government is not always good, and the people in charge are not always right, everything works better planned. Thinking things through and working through problems by talking first is for the best, and if a little ruckus is needed to do good in the end, so be it.

Relationships

Searil treats friendships seriously. Although she gets into fights and arguments with her friends, she would gladly give her life for them. She can, however, become largely overprotective of a person she is very attached to (see: Lawrence again).

  • Mydo: Haha, man he kicked some ass back there. Sneaking in and out of the castle like that... And I daresay, he, Olio and Gnaat were the only people who actually had their plans work out in the end. Building those bombs helped a lot, too, and also I appreciate how much he's willing to put his head together for the team, even if he's kind of perverted and acts like a dick sometimes. He's a lucky bastard, that's for sure!

  • Gnaat: Totally punched Elistrae in the face, which is cool because I always thought she kind of deserved it. Er, I guess that's not really a good thing to say... Anyway... She's not that good at talking to other people, but she always does bring up a good point. And she's one of the members of the party I feel I can completely trust, so that's cool too.

  • Olio: Sometimes I love her to death; other times I want to strangle her. So I guess in that respect she's probably the closest thing I have to a sister. She and Mydo pulled some wicked shit back there... I don't want to know the details of her having sex with the princess and all, but she then tied up the princess, disguised, rescued us all and totally held that vampire while Raiden laid-on-hands the shit out of her.

  • Raiden: My best friend. And even if he wasn't, you have to just admire the guy for being freakin' incredible--he can take hits, he can do hits, he can play instruments, he's smart, he knows how to make potions and explodey things... His only problem really is he tends to get too angry. I guess I can't say much, seeing as I flip out a whole lot, too, but c'mon Raiden... not everyone is as smart as you; we're trying our best, but give us a little patience and we can try to do you a favor, y'know?

  • Aleria: She's incredibly helpful. She finds us food, she scouts for us, she heals us, and she always has the right word to say when we need it the most... Yet she asks for no praise or thanks. It's almost like she lives to help poor misguided adventurers like us on our way, like some kind of beacon of light. If we ever lost her, I think we'd be totally screwed... because of that, sometimes it feels like I take her too much for granted.

  • Raevyn: Back in action! While I can't say I agree with her reasoning at all given times, her abilities as a thief have proved useful. Maybe instead of thinking of her just as a dirty thief, she can be much more useful in helping the party sneak into places when we need to (like, for example, the king). And even Helga praised us for just breaking into the castle. Either way, I'm glad to have her back. And now her pony has a companion...

  • Arinae: Maybe her problem is just that she doesn't have enough confidence... Maybe that's why she does bad things all the time and attempts to get away with it. Because she wants to better herself. It's a possibility, especially since she was flipping out so much over the fact that she didn't have her chains. She seemed to really appreciate having those boots though, which was cool, and she even asked for them instead of just taking them or demanding them. Ah well, hopefully this whole thing will give her a little more confidence in Juno and the rest of the party... and, of course, herself.

  • Noodles: He apparently did some crazy shit with Mydo and Olio, helping them get into the castle. Whatever it was, it got a kiss from Olio, so I guess it meant something. Something about firing a magic missle or... something. Either way, he's almost like a mini-Mydo--buff as hell, always thinking of hardcore schemes and definately the luckiest bastard around. Glad to have him with us!

  • Alistin: What a mature little girl... I respect her for her maturity, and feels some connection to her in that sense (both of us look rather young, but act much older than we look). Sadly though, I feel I didn't know her for all that long to form solid opinions of her.

  • Dresvan: He was helping hold those monsters off from the Highmoore? Holy crap, he's a much better guy than I thought he was.... Maybe we were all wrong about Dresvan. Y'know, maybe the only reason he acts like such a dick is because he thinks he'd be better off alone. I think I should probably talk to the guy a little, maybe find out why he acts that way. It has something to do with the gods... I think.

  • Shifty: ... The poor soul. At first I felt he was an evil force to be reckoned with, but since finding out about the lich which he serves, I feel that he needs to be saved from the malevolent force that controls him. Secretly, I plan to try to confront him about this matter and try to save him from the lich... but I'm not quite sure of the consequences of that, or what would happen after that...

  • Princess Elistrae: Got punched in the face, which is awesome, but hopefully she was only a dick because that vampire was controlling her. You have no idea, though, how scared I was when Olio disguised as that butch guard said Elistrae was going to have a little "fun" with me... Shit, I think I'd rather ball Shifty than her.

  • The Gellantaras: ... I think next time I go back there my mother's going to kill me for knocking her unconscious in a bar.

  • Sir Frederick Meyer: A powerful, graceful man, although he can seem a little cold sometimes. Also, what's up with Alistin? It makes sense that he would have her work in the library to learn, but... still...

  • Dame Helga: Got thrown in jail with me, which I guess is surprising. Still, she actually told me that everyone breaking into the castle was a good idea... which I guess I feel proud for. I mean, it required everyone to pull off the crazy shit that happened in there, but having kinda thought of the idea, I guess I feel a little.... proud for it.

  • That Junoian Guard: ... I really want to go to him and give him a speech or something. People can catch retarded _really_ easily.

  • Victor von Pthfonkenhausen: Gnarhaghahsdlfa! I want him dead, so bad! We kill him, hopefully Shifty will see the light and repent. Then we can kill Avarice and happy day! World is safe for about three more seconds until some other jerkoff decides to fuck with everyone. What makes him so unbearable is the fact that he's so happy-go-lucky about raping towns and people's lives... It just pisses me off more.

  • Sera: ... She might still be alive. If she is... I wonder if she truly believes what Avarice said. I hope I can talk to her... If she believed Avarice, I'd be offended. I mean, come on, who do you think is telling the truth--the woman who tortured and raped your people, or the people who saved you!?

  • Nebuchadnezzer: He's hardcore too! He'll actually _listen_ to us, and is willing to help us solve this whole war bit! He stands as the one representation that Alizarins aren't all assholes.

  • Michaelis: ... That man... is awesome. Enough said.

  • Heironeous: ... HORSE.

Current Thoughts

Wow, we're an awesome party. We all managed to put our heads together and do something great for the country... Hopefully this fame will just work out well for us, although it might go to some of our heads. Ah well! I guess I should go and see how the temple's doing...
