Story

Raevynn was raised in a tightly-knit, financially stable (but not rich), semi-nomadic society of halflings. She has two siblings, a younger brother and an older sister, the second of which is much older than her and has begun having her own family. While her mother was very close to her, her father was often gone on "errands" of his own. However, in the times he was around, he taught her playful slight-of-hand tricks as a way of spending quality time with her. Her father was the sneaky, aloof, happy-go-lucky trickster type, while her mother was very warm, welcoming, and, at times, strict. Her mother loves animals, and as such Raevynn was surrounded by warmth and wildlife growing up.

Around the age of 17, Raevynn's father mysteriously disappeared while out on one of his many errands. Raevynn was distraught. She decided to venture out into the world to discover what might have happened to him, but did not ask her mother first. She left her a note describing her need for adventure, her desire to find herself, and to discover what became of her father.

Going out into the world, Raevynn was very naive. She inevitably was captured by a band of goblins led by a few orcs, and the only thing she could think to do was "perform" her slight-of-hand tricks for them. Fascinated, they rather ungraciously trained her to become one of them. She was treated as a lesser member for a long while, at least until she finally became proficient in both Orcish and Goblin. Over this time, she changed from being soft, fun-loving, and naive to being more hardened, rough, and tricky. She finally acheived the ability to communicate with the races, and over time gained slightly more status. While with this group, they pilliaged, looted, and picked on the weak -- but only focused on small encampments and villages. This lasted for three years, from the time she left home.

Reavynn was seperated from her band when the group attempted to attack a small group of dwarves. Having overestimated their might, the groups was quickly scattered, and many of the Goblins retreated into the forest. Raevynn, however, was "captured" by the dwarves, who suspected she was an unwilling prisoner. She could not communicate with them not only because she did not know the Dwarven language, but because she had been speaking Goblin and Orcish for so long that she could only primarily squack at them in harsh Goblin. She was saved by force as these dwarves took pity on her, and she was "retrained" primarily by one dwarf, who taught her to refocus her energies (up till this point used to pilliage) and was taught how to use the crossbow and short sword. It's at this time Raevynn picked up the Dwarven language.

Raevynn finally left her new mentor, and headed to Juno, where she hoped to test herself and find some "real" adventure. While she hadn't lost her sense of cold-bloodedness and malice from working with the Goblins, she had relearned a bit of how she used to be. Upon arriving in Juno, she was still considerably conflicted inside as to what she wanted from life.

(Side note: Raevynn's skill in the Halfing language is slightly rusty since she hasn't had the need to speak it in so many years. She understands the speech, but she herself is slightly awkward in speaking the language as of now.)

Role in Party

Before losing track of her dear pony Epwna, Raevynn was the more solitary rebel of the group, yet somewhat lovable at times (emphasis on "somewhat"). She often was in trouble with the paladin Searil (see relationships), who for a long while distrusted any action she performed. Initially she felt immensely disrespected for her race/height (which she is sensitive about) and questioned her role in the party, but once voicing her opinion things miraculously changed for the better. She tried her hardest to be respectable, in combat and out, and tried her hardest to better herself as a thief behind the vigilant eyes of both Gnaat and Searil. Her current dream is to become a member of the thieve's guild (unbeknownst to the part members), but being inexperienced -- and oft times naive -- she may or may not ever achieve said goal... but don't tell her that. It'd break her spirits.

Upon rejoining the party, she seems to play the infilitrator and spy, and is finding that she may have better ideas then she -- or others -- gives herself credit for.

Psychology

Having grown up in a community-oriented society, Raevynn seeks companionship. While her skills require her in many cases to work alone, she is not happy doing so. She feels she can take all the help she can get -- at least to the point where it isn't being done for her. She's very confident in her skills as a rogue, which at times is slightly unfounded since she is still a rookie (there have been few instances in the past anything like what she is experiencing now, or has been experiencing since joining up with this party). Her conscious reasoning for "needing" to steal are to prove to herself that she can do it; the unconscious reasons are that the state of accumulating riches emulates the comfort in which she grew up.

Raevynn is daring, determined, reckless, and many times, foolish. she is still learning the ropes, and is gradually learning more and more when to steal and when to run. She has never learned the concept of "there's a time and place for everything".

Raevynn's justification for stealing is that those folks from which she is stealing "don't really need it anyway". She often steals from those she know will have "more money than they need", or "don't deserve it" -- in other words, nobles (if she can get away with it), shop-keepers, or magic-using accociations (she doesn't understand magic, but understands enough that they sell for much more than normal equipment). Stealing from the poor is not worth the effort, as she has learned from experience.

Since she was raised with them, Raevynn likes animals as her mother does, and was tempted by the oppurtunity to buy a Shetland War Pony when she had the money -- even though, technically, it wasn't hers. When she aggreed to care for the money of her party, she hadn't quit learned the difference between "finders keepers" and honor since her Goblin band wasn't too accomidating.

Alignment

She is overly obsessed and stubborn. She refuses to back down if she believes whole-heartedly that she can retrieve something and get away with it. If she is unable to attain what she is working for, she can have spurs of extreme impulsiveness and regret it later. She always wants to get something out of everything since she does not like wasted effort.

Raevynn learned to be rebelious while working with the Goblins and it carries into present day. She can't stand being belittled for either her race or her skills. She'd always had a adventure-seeking free spirit growing up, and this is misunderstood at times. She does certain things against the will of some of her party members just because she wants something so badly. She never intentionally tries to defy anyone she knows. She is occasionally overly trusting of certain individuals, which has proven negative at times.

Even when trusted with a task Raevynn will still attempt to snag something for herself. At times, it has caused her to fail at the task alloted to her. She normally feels slightly guilty in such a case, but mostly annoyed that her personal plans were foiled (usually by being caught).

Relationships (current)

    • Mydo - Way to go, Mydo! One minute your a complete IDIOT and the next you're our hero!

    • Gnaat - She really knows how to kick ass -- but she seems to be acting differently too. She seems a bit conflicted -- maybe it comes out in her fighting?

    • Scharr - What a loser. He must be a lonely sap, but he has helped us a lot -- I gotta say, without him around I wouldn't be having nearly as much enjoyment as I do. Too bad he's on to me, though... :(

    • Raiden - Raiden must be off doing busy-work or something, but he always seems to magically (frickin' paladins) pop up RIGHT when we need him. Thanks, I guess. -_-

    • Olio - Olio sure has gotten in deep. Well, all of the REST of us, too. But hey! At least we're headed somewhere! Hopefully we'll manage to get back at the guys after us!

    • Arinae - Two words: reckless and impulsive. She jumps right in when all of us hang back -- who knows if it's courage or tactlessness but it works for me.. well, sometimes. At least it takes the burn off of me a bit. I just wish she valued her life a bit more than she seems to... she puts herself through so many injuries. Maybe that's what makes her feel alive?

    • Noodles - Nice guy, but WOW, I do NOT want to be on the receiving end of one of his tricks. Seeing him kill people instantly by doing so little is one of the scariest things I've ever seen. ...besides, it's cheating...

Relationships (old)

    • Raiden - ...something's going on. Even before Searil's... ...he's been acting unusual... it's unusual for paladins to act this way, isn't it?

    • Aeleria - I wonder where she went... maybe we'll run into her later. Hopefully we don't accidently catch and eat her. O_o

    • Allerance - He's not a paladin -- plus. I began wondering how he'll fit into a dysfunctional group like us. He seems so... formal. Guess we'll see what happens.

Relationships (post-rejoining)

    • Mydo - Mydo and Olio covered me when I was in a sticky situation, so that's pretty cool. :) They also broke me out when I... ermmmmm, got caught. ::coughs:: He actually seems to be decently happy to see me -- though he's being his perverted self as usual.

    • Gnaat - Gnaat doesn't seem too different, but when sent on a mission together with the new girl, she second-guessed a lot of ideas I had, but stood frozen when we needed to act! What's going on? I don't remember her being this way...

    • Searil - Searil ACTUALLY gave me permission to steal... is everyone really so happy to see me that they're letting me do what I want? ::laughs:: I'm glad that she doesn't hate me, actually. She's pretty cool. For a paladin.

    • Raiden - As quiet as usual; didn't say much to me rejoining everyone. But hell, he totally destroyed that vampire with pretty much one hit, so it's obvious he knows that he's doing.

    • Aeleria - As quiet and sweet as usual. ...but she can turn into animals now?

    • Olio - Olio has taken a strange interest in me. Well, maybe she did before, but now she's totally supportive of almost everything I do. That's pretty cool. She smuggled in some weaponry and let me borrow it! :) I've been exposed to "darts", a weapon I never considered before. She also saved me from prison!

    • Arinae - I vaguely remembered this person -- er, elf before departing with Epwna to Radeon. She seems to know quite a bit about me. (What the hell did they all say about me? And, HOW MUCH does she know?) She seems to have a lot in common with me -- even a dislike for elves! Kinda weird considering she IS one.. what's that all about? She requested I teach her a bit of my "skills", and any oppurtunity to show what I can do is a good one. I'll see what I can get out of or learn from this person. ...She seems to be obsessed with chains. I wonder why?

    • Noodles - The new guy -- at least from my end. He apparently conjeured up some goblin to scare me... I don't like magic. I don't understand it. But he's... small like me. He's appealing, but I think he's a bit "not for me" so to speak. I don't know if I have much in common with him, anyway.

    • Dresvan - THE F***ER TOOK MY ROOM!! HOW COULD THEY DO THAT TO ME..?

Relationships (pre-leaving for Radeon)

    • Mydo - I hate this guy.. but I love this guy. He's an idiot, but an ingenious one! It PISSES me off how he seems to do better than me, but he has a lot of great ideas... I can learn from this guy. We morally agree, but he gets in my way and laughs at me, and that's not okay. Then again, I enjoy seeing him get into trouble, so that makes us even.

    • Gnaat - I used to hate Gnaat. She would NOT leave me alone! I wished I was stronger so I could deck her a good one, but she could so easily twist both my arms off if her dear Hero-whatsis god guy wanted her to. Then again, she eventually seemed to begin trusting me a bit... and as I've learned, she can be useful to me... she doesn't have the most clear head on her shoulders, and is easily swayed... that kind of person is good for me. To use. ::smirks::

    • Searil - Searil's a paladin. As much as I frickin' HATE paladins, she's alright... but I hate it when she lectures me. Who the hell does she think she is, pushing her morals onto me? She's not me. GAR. But she's risked her life for me... so it's only fair that I help her, too. As long as she stays out of my way, anyway.

    • Raiden - Raiden is so frickin' quiet... I don't know much about him. He's spiky and lets me do what I want, so he's a-okay in my book!

    • Aeleria - Again, Aeleria lets me do what I want... what need does SHE have for money, after all? ::snicker:: Her leopard is cool... She's pretty useful since she's kept all of us alive... including me, I hate to admit.

    • Olio - Olio is a strange one... she's respectable, but so... premiscuous. Still... she causes quite the distraction, which is good for me! She's very understanding, and probably one of the few I can actually trust with my personal concerns.

    • Alistin - Bleh... magic users. Don't like 'em. she never spoke much to me, so I don't think good or bad of her.

    • Dresvan - ::breathes:: Don't get me started.

    • Shifty McGee - ...needs a girlfriend. Or a new rat. Whatever floats his boat.

    • Sir Lawrence - Just another paladin. Searil seems to like him. It'd be amusing to see them sin and have to repent. ::snickers::

    • Dame Helga - ..."Dame"? ...that was a WOMAN? O_o I stay away from.. "her". She needs to get off her high horse. ::laughs:: GET IT? ...Ah, I kill myself, I do.

    • Victor von Pthfonkenhausen - I feel bad for him. It seems the only people who want to be his friends are either dead or have some serious issues.

Current Thoughts

Frickin' thieves' guild. Frickin' fuckin' "THIEVES'" Guild! I'm ashamed for ever wanting to become one of those cowards. I'll become the best damn thief ever, and make my OWN band. They don't deserve the title! *Hmph!*
