Backstory

Medea is the eldest child of the union between her human father, Jaeson, and her elven mother, Calanel. She grew up in average-sized village with humans, and little money. Her father Jaeson was an aloof artist, constantly painting, sketching, and going on long walks in the forest, and her mother was a homebody, often spending her time reading books or practicing archery – also, avoiding the public. Medea learned to handle a long bow from her mother.

Medea was a tall, lithe child, and did not perform as well as the other children at sports and games. Instead, she found much in books (like her mother) and was quite the bookworm. Reading stories of heroes and monsters made her so desire to be just like them. She wanted to strengthen herself so she could prove herself to the world and become a part of it.

At times Calanel would return to her elven parentage for weeks at a time, and when Jaeson would go out for his long walks Medea often found herself babysitting her two younger, hyper-active brothers, Dydalos and Hector. She developed the ability to keep them in check, but retained a visceral protectiveness for them. If ever they were having trouble with the kids in the towns, they called upon their big sister Medea to set things right.

By the time Medea left home she was well into her adult years, having left home later than anyone planned. The years leading up, she’d taught herself to wield the great sword, a massive blade that suited her fancy. Retaining this and her skills with the bow, she set out in search of work.

***She landed herself her first traveling companions, being: Tandon Miir, a human warrior of large proportions; Hikari Nailo, a human paladin of Heironeous; Blankety, a marksman like herself; (rogue’s name here), a Halfling thief; (druid’s name here), an elven druid of the forest; and Anastrianna, an elven (wizard/sorceror). Among their adventures together, they encountered a snared, injured hippogryph. Upon closing in they found it was intended as an offering of sorts to a chimera, which the party defeated. Medea, taking pity on the Hippogryph, created a bond with it and nursed it back to health. Medea trained her for weeks and since then Khassa (as the Hippogryph was named) acts her constant companion and mount.

Medea eventually parted ways from her comrades in hopes of finding more work elsewhere in the world. She booked passage on a ship heading for the Black Isle, and in passing met the current party.

Psychology

Medea tries to remain indifferent and accepting whenever she can. Others religions and beliefs matter little to her as long as they don't get in her way. She cares for her friends and comrades and will help them whenever she can -- but gets indignant if her efforts go unnoticed.

Fate, in a sense, is her religion; if someone is killed, it means it was either their own fault or it was "their time to go". At the coliseum, she saw herself guiltless of the opponents' deaths, arguing "they knew the rules and possibility of death before entering" and therefore, she was merely playing by the rules. She will, however, sooth any pain caused if the victims are respectable or innocent in some way.

Alignment

Medea is true neutral. She avoids disputes of an unimportant and unviolent nature and tries to remain uninvolved. She will help the greater good, but only as long as there is something in it for herself.

Relationships

(this part will be updated accordingly)

Introductions

    • Rayn - Rayn is a very skilled marksman and tactful warrior. At times I find myself annoyed by his laid-back, indifferent attitude, but he proves to be a helpful comrade. I hope he doesn't find himself in too much trouble after the coliseum incident, but I'm sure he'll know when he's in too deep and deal with it accordingly.
    • Lueali - Lueali is a joy to have around. He seems to heighten the morale of our otherwise aloof party. In addition, I'm relieved he's made a full recovery. However, he seems very into being the center of attention when it comes to magic. If he could tone it down a bit, especially in situations requiring more tact, I'd have no problems...
    • Lighting-Tiger aka Kid - Unfortunately, although he can be excrutiatingly annoying, I like the kid. He's very intuitive and even when mouthing off to a stranger he knows exactly what he's saying. Reminds me of my brothers back home... I wonder how they're doing?
    • Khae - Khae is strange... he's very secretive and elusive, but seems to want to help us. However, something in me keeps me from trusting him completely. He can also be distressingly impulsive at times... he'd better be more careful otherwise he's going to get himself or someone else killed.
    • Araxin - Araxin seems an experienced diplomat and a great asset to the party. However, as all religious types can be at times, suffers the inevitability of being a lecturer. Hopefully in time he'll see I prove no threat to him or his religion, and merely exist as myself.
    • Kate - A very fiesty, boistrous, feministic woman... VERY feministic. She seems very focused on her distaste for men... there must be some history.
    • Sîan - Druids seem a very exclusive and anti-social group and Sîan is no exception; though in her case, she seems mildly shy as well. In time she may feel more comfortable with us (as she was directed to accompany us) and find a niche for herself.
    • Flora - Flora is a sweet woman. It's interesting she isn't married, as she seems that type, but it's admirable that she instead devoted her life to protecting children. She helps us immensely and we are in her debt.
    • Scarlet - We've found ourselves in a mess... Scarlet seems to be a returning beacon of.. hope, I suppose.

Current Thoughts

What a mess... I guess we'll continue moving and see what we find. Find out where that group of thugs came from.
