Campaign Q&A

About Q&A

It became clear over time that there was a lot in the campaign that never came to the light about events that had, or didn't happen. The idea of this section is to post questions about the campaign and what happened, why it happened, or what could have happened (even some "what if"s). I'll post questions myself, but thats really so I can match the layout of the page when explaining things people haven't yet asked about. You may find that there was a dimension of the campaign that never saw the light because the party chose door #2.

People

Dresvan

Why was he at Victor's lair?

Dresvan not only knew about Victor and his world, but came to find it from the outside. He found Victor and asked to be let into his experiment to escape the life he knew. As a technically 'informed' person in Victor's world, he was given a way to come and go from the lair, or at least the public part of it. He actually frequented the observatory to remember why he lived there. One of those times is when he happened across the party. His line "I'll leave the light on at the house for you, if there still is a house." pretty much sums up how he accepted that life, but knew not everyone would.

End-Game

Could we have decided to side with Victor?

Yes in fact, I planned for that since I personally thought Michaelis made a good enough case to win at least win 1 or 2 supporters. The party would have been led back to turn the army around and say that the lair belonged to a vampire, even giving them a Shifty as a sacraficial lamb. Victor would have killed, raised, and handed him over. Helga would have to be left behind as well, since she was unbending in her decision to destroy Victor. After all this was done, Michaelis would lead the temple forces away, but Vladimir wouldn't be convinced. Taking the mobilization of the army as time for scrying, the wizard would determine that the party was lieing and Vlad's group (Vlad, the two cavaliers and the wizard) would confront the party soon after the army left. To escape the High Moore, the party would have to defeat them. Later, if the party asked about it, they could work with Michaelis to strike a deal with Victor. This would allow people who make it to him to agree to being released from the world. They would have to submit to having their memories altered, but they would then be dropped off somewhere in the 'real' world. This offer would extend to the party as well. The Alliance of Archmagi would also be destroyed by Victor to prevent any further invasions to his world.
