Blueberry Muffins

Blueberry muffins are a baked product, typically made from eggs, flour, baking powder and other ingredients, that is shaped like an inverted trapezoidal cylinder with a quarter-section slice of sphere afixed to the top. They typically contain blueberries, though other berries similar in taste, texture and color have been used to achieve the same effect.

BLUE BERRY MUFFIN!!!

History

The blueberry muffin was invented by Harrieta Van Winkle on July 12, 1244, to repel the English invasion of Scotland. Unfortunately they didn't work very well in achieving this aim, and the English proceeded to establish rulership of Scotland that lasted until 1314.

Someone, however, discovered that her muffins were edible, and were in fact quite scrumptious.

It is of historical note that blueberries are native only to North America, indicating that the Vikings probably brought berries back from Nova Scotia and planted them in Scotland, which they also colonized.

Cultural Significance

Blueberry muffins currently have no over-riding significance in our culture other than the fact they provide a rather delicious treat to people on their lunch hour or coffee break.

Future

The future of blueberry muffins is uncertain. Will you take a stand?
